I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious. - Vince Lombardi

Well in spite of not having my team, the Denver Broncos, playing in today’s Super Bowl, I am still excited to have a piece of home as we’ve decided to throw a viewing party since we are fortunate enough to have cable television at the hostel. The morning is chaotic as we are busy making preparations for the afternoon putting together shopping lists and organizing things when all of a sudden, boom. The electricity goes out! Since this isn’t always a surprise but has become a common weekly occurrence in Nicaragua, today however it is a huge necessity. Asking people around town if they know what happened. We learn that last night during the heavy winds a tree branch blew over and crushed a post weighted down with more power lines than a bundle of television cables we outfitted our mobile television trucks from my old job. As the afternoon wore on, an hour before kickoff the electricity miraculously returns! Game on friends. Soon our upstairs balcony is crowded with more than 40 people ready to enjoy the echelon of American sport and advertising. When the stadium went black during the biggest game of the year I couldn’t help but comment that I was glad to see even in first world countries power issues are prevalent.
