You have to think anyway, so why not think big? – Don Souza

Today marks seven months of travel and I still would have never imagined how much this experience would change me–test me by bringing me to an entirely new perspective that often having less of this material world can bring more happiness. It is through this adversity that I have experienced that has helped me to be more compassionate while breaking down prejudices and ignorant ideals to the previous chapter in my life. Just as for many back home, the days tend to melt together into an accumulation of weeks, but the benefit of living without many of the constraints and legalistic measures has been one of a blissful life. Discussing with many other backpackers, the question that we all tend to despise is, “exactly what are you searching for?” As if we were lost to begin with. It is the great adventure of the unknown of where life may lead us beyond the daily routine of an expected life, for one that has endless possibilities. Opening ourselves up to be vulnerable for what that particular day may bring is nothing less than the miracle of life, which ironically is the best improv dance move I have yet to see from my great friend Jesse. The days continue to be hot in the tropical climate, but the nights have began to cool down just a bit with periods of rain. Walking the now familiar streets of SJDS I have come to know the people of this small community and after almost five months they have also taken me in beyond the stereotypical gringo, or chino, face that passes through. Life has an interesting way of challenging you, not only when you least expect it, but also when you are willing to allow for that change to progress and develop.
