Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn. — Chris Seiler

Just as many of you are saying, I cannot believe it is already September, but, what I am not saying is, where did summer go? Just as I left Denver almost six months ago in March, leaving behind the cold and snow before arriving in Belize to the warm tropical air of the Caribbean, I am still on par for an endless summer. As the relative tourism has been on the steady decline in SJDS, the coastal beach town has become somewhat of a ghost town in the silence. Settling in to the quiet season, I am beginning to plot my next possible escape–Panama, Colombia, maybe even Ecuador or Peru. Am I ready for the big jump to a new continent? Feeling no rush in the absence of a specific time limitation for my travels, I take in a deep breath and exhale with the endless possibilities of where I may end up next. However, in the meantime the tranquil setting of my current surroundings makes it difficult to plan too far ahead, and until I feel certain of my departure I am certainly enjoying life in the now. The weekend is spent lounging on the edge of the pool in the heat, while the evenings bring more colorful conversations with Alix and Stephen. For whatever reason, the discussion of natural disasters and the realistic effects on humanity from a global perspective is intensely debated between Stephen and I. The discussion ranges from possible geographic changes to instating martial law and the mobilization of military powers around the planet. After hours of strategically planning the best courses of actions for the diverse variations in the numerous possibilities, we have both come to the conclusion that Nicaragua is a fine location to ride out the end of the world. Whether it be due to nuclear war, the explosion of massive super volcanoes, or an invasion of some nasty Decepticons, we are ready to ride out the storms while overlooking the Pacific.
